Phonak EON: Every aspect purposefully designed
Great hearing aid design goes beyond the physical device. With Phonak EON, every design decision has a purpose, from how it feels and functions throughout the day to the technology clients can access and the way hearing care professionals fit it.
Launching the third generation of our AI-driven Sphere hearing aid in a substantially smaller package is a significant design achievement in itself. With Audéo™ EON, however, that is only one part of a much broader story.
Size, shape, weight and appearance matter. They influence how a hearing aid feels and how comfortably it sits behind the ear throughout the day.
But thoughtful design does not stop there.
It also means considering the full experience around the hearing aid, from how reliably it supports clients throughout the day to how easily hearing care professionals can fit it.
With Audéo™ EON, these considerations come together across the complete hearing aid experience. The physical device has been designed alongside the technology and the fitting experience so that each element supports a real client or clinical need.
The result is not one defining feature, but a series of purposeful decisions that work together to support clients and hearing care professionals.
Designed around the client experience
Ensuring clients can comfortably wear their hearing aids throughout the day, and therefore access their benefits across a range of real-world listening situations, is an important consideration for every client and clinician when selecting a hearing aid.
The Sphere EON model is 25% smaller and 20% lighter than its predecessor.
But fitting naturally into everyday life involves more than size.
Audéo EON offers up to 38 hours of battery life on a single charge. Even when your clients rely heavily on their hearing aids for streaming phone calls, virtual meetings or music, and access our advanced DNN noise reduction frequently throughout the day, they can still enjoy up to 22 hours of battery life.
Charging has also been reconsidered. The new ChargerGo uses magnetic retention to help guide the hearing aids securely into position during charging. Its integrated power pack also provides up to three full charges without requiring an external power source.
Clients can choose from eight color options, including the new Sienna Red, providing greater choice for a device they may wear throughout most of their waking hours.
These elements address different needs but share the same design principle: reducing the amount of attention the hearing aid itself requires throughout the day.
Designed to make meaningful technology more accessible
Purposeful design is not limited to what can be seen or held. Difficulty understanding speech in background noise remains one of the most common challenges encountered in hearing care.
With Audéo EON, Spheric Speech Clarity is now available at the 50 performance level, extending access to advanced speech-in-noise technology to more clients.
From an audiologist’s perspective, this represents another important dimension of design. Developing advanced technology is important, but so is considering how that technology is made available to the people who may benefit from it.
In this sense, the design of EON extends beyond the architecture of the hearing aid itself to decisions about how its technology can support a broader range of clients.
Designed for the fitting experience
The hearing aid experience begins before the client leaves the clinic, which means good design should also consider the hearing care professional fitting the device.
With Target 12.0, we have taken the feedback test introduced with Infinio Ultra a step further. The updated feedback test can now automatically provide up to 6 dB of additional headroom when needed. This gives hearing care professionals greater flexibility during fitting and can reduce the need for additional manual adjustments.
For clients, the benefit is more immediate access to stable gain, supporting greater audibility where it is needed.
Technology should support rather than complicate the clinical interaction. When fitting tools work intuitively and efficiently, hearing care professionals can focus more of their attention on understanding the individual client and their listening needs.
One design philosophy, across the experience
No single feature defines the design of Audéo EON. Instead, each decision addresses a different part of the hearing aid experience, from comfort and all-day use to access to technology and the fitting process.
Together, these decisions reflect a simple principle: good design starts with understanding a need and creating a purposeful solution.
Perhaps that is the most meaningful measure of hearing aid design. Not how much attention the technology attracts, but how little attention it requires, allowing clients to focus instead on the conversations and experiences that matter to them.
